1. Place your extract from the cell on a clean slide.
2. Add a drop water using a pipette
3. Add a drop of stain and place a coverslip over the top to clear air bubbles
4. Place it on the stage. Move the stage up and down so that it is nearly in focus
5. Then adjust the focus using the knob so you get a clear image
