1919-20, peace treaties drawn up, none of defeated countries invited

no secret treaties, free trading, all countries to disarm , league of nations to be set up
did all big 3 agree with each other. if not who did and didnt
clemeanceau disagreed with wilson believing they should cripple germany, lloyd george also didn’t want to be to harsh as he wanted to continue trading with germany, lloyd george disagreed with wilsons view of everyone having access to the seas
what were the terms of the treaty of versailles
war guilt, reperations made to pay 6600 million, german territories were taken and forbade to join with austria (Anschluss), league of nations set up but germany not allowed to join, armed forces- army to 100,000 conscription banned. no air force and 6 boats.
how did germans react to the treaty
angry that they were not represented. blow to german pride over loss of territories. army v small for germany it was unfair, war guilt hated as they believed blame to be shared.
impact of treaty on germany
political violence- kapp putsch right wing uprising
conflict in the ruhr- unable to pay so french soldiers invaded and took raw materials etc.
hyperinflation- goverment had to print more money to pay meaning the german mark became worthless
what were the other peace treaties
sevres 1920- turkey, army 50,000 no air force and lost territory.
st germain 1919- austria, army limited 30,000, empire broken up
neuilly 1919- bulgaria, army limited 20,000 and reperations 10 mil
trianon 1920- hungary, lost territory
