Why are birth rates decreasing globally

A

The infant mortality rate used to be higher so people had more children to ensure that at least one would reach adulthood, as the infant mortality rate began to lower due to better medicine people stopped having more children since the likelihood of them surviving is much higher hence why the birth rates have lowered

Case Study Syrian refugees in Greece: Challenges faced by refugees & Greece

A

Challenges faced by refugees; Dangerous journey often in overcrowded boats, others are trapped in overcrowded camps with little access to food or healthcare multiple families crammed into a single storage container, there is a growing anti immigrant sentiment in Greece causing racially motivated attacks, these migrants can’t move further into Europe as other countries have closed their borders, many face the threat of being sent back, they struggle to find jobs or education due to the language barrier

Challenges faced by Greece; Greece’s 25% unemployment rate and struggling economy is only worsened by the number of migrants at 62,000 and rising, many claim that the increasing refugee numbers is having a negative impact on tourism which further weakens Greece’s economy although others claim this is untrue, these migrants don’t contribute to Greece’s economic by setting up roots and getting jobs as they plan to leave once the war is over, other European countries preventing migrants from moving further into Greece resulting in large refugee camps such as the Idomeni camp at the Macedonia border which holds 12,000 people
