Protagonist
The character who faces the most conflict. The main character.
Antagonist
The character who struggles against the protagonist.
Dynamic character
A changing character.
Static character
Stays the same throughout the story.
Round character
Complex. Usually the protagonist.
Flat character
Minor characters who are based around a single idea.
Stock character
A character who is instantly recognizable. (The snooty cheerleader)
Internal conflict
A problem the main character faces from within.
External conflict
A problem that the main character faces from the outside.

Point of view
The vantage point in which the author tells the story
First person
TOLD from the main characters perspective. Uses I, me, my, WE.
Second person
Instructional. Used you, your or yourself.
Third person omniscient
The narrator knows everyone’s thoughts.
Third person objective
The narrator tells the story from an observational point of view.
