Exposition
An introduction to the main characters, the main setting, and the situation in our story.
Initial incident
The first major action in the story.
This is the beginning of the avalanche.
This sets the story in motion.
Rising action
The events and complications that happen in our story start to develop. The characters need something to happen to them.
Climax
The turning point in our story. When the conflicts come to a resolution.
Falling action
All things that contributed to the climax, will start to resolve. This is where non-necessary characters start to leave, and we might even hear about how the story will end.
Resolution
All loose ends are tied up. No questions remain, and the big idea and the book is over. Things become clear and obvious here.
