Blunt injury - common in contact sports

Between cartilage and perichondrium - deprives cartilage of its blood supply and can lead to necrosis

A
Prompt drainage, packing to prevent reaccumulation and closure

Fibrosis and new asymmetrical cartilage development = cauliflower deformity
