Physics Flashcards
Types of Laws of motion
LAW OF INERTIA
LAW OF ACCELERATION
LAW OF INTERACTION
Bodies at rest will remain at rest and bodies in motion will continue moving at constant speed in a straight path unless acted upon by a net force.
LAW OF INERTIA
Acceleration is directly proportional to the net force acting on the body and inversely proportional; to its mass.
LAW OF ACCELERATION
For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction.
LAW OF INTERACTION
Any object that is moving has a momentum or mass in motion
MOMENTUM
momentum is equals to impulse
IMPULSE-MOMENTUM THEOREM
is force multiply by change in time
IMPULSE
the product of an external force applied on the object and the distance it travels in the direction of force.
WORK
the ability to do work
Work and Energy have the same unit although they are related, they are not exactly the same.
ENERGY
the rate of doing work.
POWER
energy of motion
KINETIC ENERGY
stored energy, energy due to position
POTENTIAL ENERGY
the sum of kinetic energy and potential energy
MECHANICAL ENERGY
is the energy that comes from the motion of particles within a substance.
THERMAL ENERGY
Law of Acceleration Formula
F=ma (unit N)
