PHYSICS Flashcards
Rotation refers to the motion of a body turning about an axis, where each particle of the body moves along a circular path.
KINEMATICS OF ROTATION
- represented by θ.
- When the disk rotates from an initial position to final position, it is represented :
- The units of angular displacement is in degrees, radians or revolutions.
ANGULAR POSITION/DISPLACEMENT
the angle made at the center of a circle by an arc equal to the radius wrapped around the circumference.
symbol rad or c
RADIAN
(ω) is the rate at which an object rotates about an axis
ANGULAR VELOCITY
represents the rate at which the angular velocity of an object changes with respect to time. It is analogous to linear acceleration (a) in linear motion.
The unit of angular acceleration is radians per second squared (rad/s²)
ANGULAR ACCELERATION
refers to motion that is repeated at regular intervals of time.
motion of object that regularly returns to a given position
PERIODIC MOTION
the energy an object has because of its motion.
ex. If we want to accelerate an object, then we must apply force.
KINETIC ENERGY
applying force requires us to do work, after work has been done, energy has been transferred to the object, and the object will be moving
KINETIC ENERGY
is stored energy held by an object because of relative position, electric charge, or internal stress.
POTENTIAL ENERGY
maximum displacement of a body from its equilibrium position
either the positive or negative direction
Amplitude (A)
the time required to complete a full cycle- one complete to-and from motion.
is usually expressed in seconds.
T = time/ number of cycles
Period (T)
the number of cycles per second
its SI unit is the hertz abbreviated as Hz.
One hertz = 1 cycle/second.
f = 1 / T
sometimes angular frequency (w) is used.
expressed in radian/second
w=2𝛑f or w=2𝛑/T
Frequency (f)
