Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
The emission of electro magnetic waves or subatomic particles
Convection
The caused with a fluid by the density of hotter or therefore less dense material to rise
Conduction
The process where heat is directly transmitted through a substance when there is a difference of temperature.
Physical properties
Is any property that is measurable, whose value describes a state of physical property.
Physical change
Any change that occurs without altering the chemical composition of a substance.
Chemical property’s
A property or characteristic of a substance that is observed during a reaction in which the chemical composition or identity of the substance is changed.
Chemical change
Involving the rearrangement of the atoms of one or more substance and a change in their chemical properties or composition, resulting in the info of at least one or new substance
Average speed
The total distance traveled divided by the total time elapsed
Velocity
The speed of something in a given direction
Friction
The rubbing of one body against another ex.sand paper rubbing on the ground
Force
Is a push
Newton’s first law of motion
Every object that remains at rest stays at rest unless a force acts upon it
Newton’s second law of motion
That the acceleration of an dependent upon two variables
Newton’s third law of motion
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
