Max Doses for paracetamol & time regime
paracetamol: 4-6 hourly, max 4 doses in 24 hours
⁃ 3-12mo = 60-125mg
⁃ 1-5yo = 125-250mg
⁃ 5-12yo = 250-500mg
⁃ 12-18yo = 500mg-1g
⁃ “Calpol” = 120 or 250mg/5ml. 120 for <6yrs old, 250 for >6yrs old.

What is paracetamol useful for in paeds
Pyrexia and pain
Max doses for ibuprofen and time regime
ibuprofen: 8 hourly (max 3x a day?)
⁃ Contraindications = asthma, liver disease, renal failure, bleeding disorders
⁃ 3-12mo = 50mg (max 30mg/kg)
⁃ 1-4yo = 100mg (max 30mg/kg)
⁃ 4-7yo = 150mg (max 30mg/kg)
⁃ 7-10yo = 200mg (max 2.4g/kg)
⁃ 10-12yo = 300mg (max 2.4g/kg)
⁃ 12-18yo = 300-400mg
⁃ “Nurofen” = 100mg or 200mg/5ml (100 for 3-7yrs old, 200 for 7 and over)
What is ibuprofen useful for
Pyrexia pain inflammation
When is ibuprofen contraindicated
Asthma, liver disease, renal failure, bleeding disorders

4.4mg/kg
What is the max dose for articaine
5mg/kg for paeds
7mg/kg for adults
How do u work out estimated weight for paeds
(Age + 4) x 2 = kg

What are the instructions for calpol?
- no more than 4 doses in 24 hrs
- leave at least 4 hours between doses
- don’t use more than one product containing paracetamol at the same time
- don’t give this medicine to the child for more than 3 days without speaking to doctor/pharmacist
