Swahili verbs are always “constructed”-they are built, piece by piece, according to a permanent
design. There are seven basic building blocks that can be used to construct a Swahili verb depending
on the context. They are:
S: Subject Prefix
T: Tense Marker Prefix
R: Relative Object prefix
O: Direct Object prefix
V: Verb Root
A: Action statement suffix
E: Verb End
