DEFINITION- Pacifism
The belief the water violence are unjustifiable and that disputes should be settled by peaceful means
DEFINITION- Conditional pacifism
peaceful methods are always preferable, but violence is justified under specific conditions
DEFINITION- Absolute pacifism
war and violence are never justifiable
DEFINITION- Active pacifism
protest or act to oppose war/violence

fighting for a religious cause of God to defend the religion and belief

A wall that is morally or theologically justifiable

criteria used to check that it is right to go to war

PROS of nuclear weapons
-nuclear deterrence the power of these weapons is so huge that no one will dare use it due to the risk of mutually assured destruction.
-The threat of them can prevent war
-they end wars e.g. World War II.
CONS of Nuclear weapons
-could destroy the world and end the human race
-indiscriminate; the devastation is huge and kills an enormous amount of people radiation
-can affect a population for years to come
-damages environment
-risk of being obtained by terrorists
CHRISTIAN VIEW- nuclear weapons
The Catholic Church opposes weapons of mass destruction but recognises the nuclear deterrence
