Virchow’s Triad?
A
Things that increase risk for PE/DVT
- Stasis
- Endothelial damage
- Hypercoaguability

D-dimer sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV?
A
High sensitivity, relatively low specificity = False positives
Negative result = Rule out (High NPV)
Positive result = CANNOT RULE IN (Low PPV)

Who gets tPA for PE?
A
Cardiogenic Shock/hypotensive

Normal treatment for PE?
A
Subcutaneous LMWH first for 5ish days followed by Coumadin for 3mo to 1 yr.
