Part 1 Flashcards
What is everything that needs to be included on a graph? (SULTAN)
Scale,Unit , label and legend , accuracy , and neatness.
What does DRY MIX stand for?
Depend respond Y axis , Independent manipulated X axis .
What is the control in an experiment?
X axis / Independent variable .
An experiment was done to test if giving mice caffeine would affect their size. What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable?
Independent variable - the ones that were given the caffeine .
Dependent variable - The size of the mice.
Provide three examples of abiotic & biotic factors.
Abiotic -Sunlight , water , temperature , and soil .
Biotic - Plants, animals , and organisms .
What is an ecosystem?
a collection of all organisms.
What is a population? Give an example of one that would live in a forest.
All members of a particular species that live in the same area. Ex: Foxes
What factors affect the size of a population?
Is abotic and botic factors as well as birth and death rates.
Describe what a graph looks like when a population grows exponentially?
This growth is when there are unlimited resources this growth typically looks like a J.
Why does exponential growth occur?
This occurs when there is unlimited resources .
Describe what a graph looks like when a population grows logistically?
This growth looks like a S.
Why does logistic growth occur? What is carrying capacity?
Logistic growth occurs when there are limited resources . Carrying capacity is when the maximum population that can be supported by the resources.
What type of growth pattern do humans follow? Give some reasons why.
Humans follow the logistic growth due to there being limited resources.
What does a primary consumer eat? Is a primary consumer an herbivore or carnivore?
Primary consumer eat Producers . They are then herbivore due to herbivore only eating plants.
What does a secondary consumer eat? Is it an herbivore or carnivore?
Secondary consumers eat Primary consumers . They are carnivore due to carnivore eating animals.
