What types of rock are found below the Tees-Exe line?
Sedimentary
How are igneous rocks formed?
Magma/lava that has cooled and crystallised.
How are sedimentary rocks formed?
Sediments deposited in at the bottom of oceans/rivers, compacted over a long time due to pressure.
How are metamorphic rocks formed?
Sedimentary rocks that were heated and compressed during igneous activity. Heating and compression harden them to make them resistant.
Examples of sedimentary rock that turns into metamorphic rocks?
Shale -> slate,
Limestone -> marble.
