P2 Flashcards
What must the circuit include for an electrical charge to flow through a closed circuit?
It must include a source of potential difference
What is electric current?
A flow of electrical charge?
What is the size of the size of the electric current?
The rate of flow of electrical charge
What is the equation for charge flow?
Charge flow = current x time
What is charge flow measured in?
Coulombs ( C )
What is current measured in ?
Amperes ( A )
What does the current through a component depend on ?
Both the resistance and the potential difference across the component
What happens to the current for a given potential difference when the resistance of the component increases?
The greater the resistance of the component the smaller the current for a given potential difference across the component
What is the equation for potential difference?
Potential difference = current x resistance
What is potential differ measured in?
Volts ( V )
What is resistance measured in?
Ohms
What s directly proportional to the current through an ohmic conductor?
The current through an ohmic conductors ( at a constant temperature ) is directly propagated to the potential difference across the resistor
Does the resistance remain constant or varied as the current changes?
The resistance remains constant as the current changes
What objects change with the current through the component
Lamps diodes thermistors and and LDRs is not constant
How does the resistance of a filament lamp increase.
It increases as the temperature of the filament increases
