- Former actress, strong powerful woman
- Convinced Justinian to give women rights like owning land.
- Also convinced him to stand up to revolting tax payers and he did and won.

- Inspired by Homer’s Odyssey (famous Greek work).
- Virgil’s epic poem the Aeneid describes adventures of Trojan prince Aeneas, who was presented as the ideal Roman: brave, self-controlled, and loyal to the gods.
Hannibal
in 219 BC Hannibal of Carthage attacked Saguntum, an independent city allied with Rome, which sparked the outbreak of the Second PUNIC WAR. Then he marched his massive army across the Pyrenees and Alps mountains into central Italy in what would be remembered as one of the most famous campaigns in history.
