Investigations for someone with ankle fracture?
Requires to XRAY PLANES- AP or lateral mortise as well as mortise view
Bloods- FBC, UE, CRP, LFT, BONE PROFILE AND CALCIUM/ VITAMIN D
Calculate the frax score if high risk
Management of weber A facture?
Refer to Ortho
Moon boot for up to 6 weeks
important for patients to move ankle within first 2 weeks
IM nail if severely displaced
Complications of ankle fracture?
non union/ malrotation
Infection
What does it meal for increased medial clear space?
indicates talar shift and syndesmosis involvement= instability of the joint
Management of weber C fracture?
Surgical management due to age of the patient and fracture displacement- internal fixation with plating or an IM nail.
