Organ Systems Flashcards

1
Q

What does the digestive system include?

A

Gland, pan crease salivary glands- produce digestive juices
The stomach + small intestine where digestion occurs
The liver which produces bile
The small intestine where absorption of soluble food occurs
The large intestine hw are water is absorbed from the undigested food, producing faeces.

Q

Describe what happens to food as it is digested

A

The insoluble food is mixed with digestive juices produced by glands. It is digested in the stomach and small intestine, bile produced by the liver is added to help the food digest. Absorption of the soluble food takes In the small intestine. Water is absorbed by the large intestine

Q

Where does the undigested food go

A

The muscular walls of the gut squeeze the undigested food onwards into your large intestine

What is the sequence in a multicellular organism

A

Cells> tissue>organ>organ system> organism

22
Q

What is an organ system and give an example

A

Groups of organs that perform a particular function eg digestive system
