A

IM by autoinjector, intranasal, IV by advanced provider. Follow dosage from package directions

How to give CPR to someone with opioid OD?

A

Same algorithm but give naxolone during chest compressions or rescue breaths or AED and follow its package directions. No pulse? —> chest compressions; yes pulse no breathing? —> rescue breaths (1 breath q 6s for adults, 1 breath q 2-3s for children, check pulse q 2 min)

What are opioids? Examples? What do they cause?

A

Pain meds. Ex: heroin (illegal), hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, fentanyl. Too much can overwhelm brain and depress natural drive to breathe => respiratory depression —> respiratory arrest or cardiac arrest
