What is the acute treatment of varceal haemorrhage?
A
- ABC
- Correct clotting: FFP or Vitamin K
- Vasoactive agents: Terlipressin.
- Prophylactic antibiotics - Quinolones.
- Endoscopy: band ligation.
- Sengstaken-Blakemore tube if uncontrolled haemorrhage.
- TIPPS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt) if all fails.

What is the prophylaxis treatment of variceal haemorrhages?
A
- Propranolol - reduces rebleeding & mortality.

EVL ( Endoscopic Variceal Band Ligation).
- PPI to prevent ulceration.
