Q

Describe the Work Order process

A
  1. Work Request is raised
  2. Upon approval, becomes a Work Order which begins the planning and scheduling process
  3. Resources are identified
  4. Other planning information, e.g. task duration and planned start time, are added to the work order
  5. All outstanding work orders are scheduled within the constraints of available labour and other required resources
  6. Upon work completion, observations about the work and information about resources are added to the work order
  7. The work order is closed

Q

How do CMMSs handle spare parts and materials?

A
  • some contain a complete inventory and purchasing system
  • some link to a separate system that handles purchasing and inventory control
  • spare parts and materials requirements are recorded for each piece of equipment and for each preventive task
