induced by airbone pollens ex. hay fever
Perennial (year round) Rhinitis
major allergens and irritants, house dust, dust mites
Acute Sinusitis s/s and how long does it last
<3 weeks, nasal congestion, fever, facial pain worse when bending over, intermittent sore throat, tooth pain, H/A
Chronic Sinusitis s/s and how long does it last
> 3 weeks, nasal discharge and congestion, fever, h/A and pain mild
Maxillary Sinusitis
pain and pressure over cheeks
Frontal Sinusitis
pain and tenderness over forehead
Ethmoid Sinusitis
pain over the retrootbital and lateral wall of nose
Sphenoid Sinusitis
pain in retro orbital, frontal and facial areas
Vasomotor Rhinitis, s/s and what triggers it?
abnormal autonomic responsiveness that results in vascular dilation
s/s: abrupt congestion and nasal discharge, no itching
triggered by sexual arousal, extreme temps, emotional upset
