Northumberland made a peace treaty with France in 1550 (Treaty of Boulogne) which represented English defeat and agreed: Boulogne was to be given up to France. England would remove their garrisons from Scotland. The Border between England and Scotland was to be restored to what it was before HVIII’s Scottish campaigns.
