Nominal, ordinal, interval data Flashcards
1
Q
What is nominal data?
A
- data which is in categories
- data can be discrete as one item may only appear in one of the categories
2
Q
what is ordinal data?
A

- may involve a scale
- lacks precision as it is based on subjective opinion rather than objective measures
3
Q
what is interval data?
A
- units are precisely defined
- public scale of measurements/ measurements are standardised
(time, temperature and weight) - very precise
4
Q
what measure of central tendency is used when nominal data is used
A
MODE
5
Q
