Newton's Laws Flashcards
A push or a pull on an object that changes the motion of that object
Force
A change in position over time
Motion
The combination of all forces acting on an object
net force
Distance traveled per rate of time
speed
The speed and direction of an object
Velocity
The rate at which velocity changes over time
Acceleration
An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion unless another force acts on it
Newton’s first law motion
Force= mass x acceleration
Newtons’s second law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction
Newton’s third law
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist changing speed.
inertia
A force that resists motion
friction
The amount of matter in an object
Mass
