New unusual waveforms and situations Flashcards
1
Q
What is aortic regurgitation?
- Seen as?
A
- a component of reversed flow called pulsus bisferans.
- Seen as a prominent notch in the waveform
2
Q
Tachycardia?
A
- > 100bpm
- The PSV is decreased while the EDV is increased
- Left ventricular volumes are decreased due to the limited duration of diastolic filling
- The heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs
- Using PSV ratios is preferred for accurate grading of stenosis
3
Q
Bradycardia?
A
- <60bpm
- May be a sign of a problem with your heart’s electrical system
- The heart does not pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs
- PSV will be relatively elevated and the EDV will be low
- Using PSV ratios is most accurate method of grading a stenosis
4
Q
A high resistant flow pattern in the mid to distal ICA indicates?
A
intracranial ICA stenosis-siphon level
5
Q
ischemia?
A
an inadequate blood supply (circulation) to the small intestine
