Q

Tachycardia?

A
  • > 100bpm
  • The PSV is decreased while the EDV is increased
  • Left ventricular volumes are decreased due to the limited duration of diastolic filling
  • The heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs
  • Using PSV ratios is preferred for accurate grading of stenosis

Q

Bradycardia?

A
  • <60bpm
  • May be a sign of a problem with your heart’s electrical system
  • The heart does not pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs
  • PSV will be relatively elevated and the EDV will be low
  • Using PSV ratios is most accurate method of grading a stenosis
