autoimmune demyelination
Immune response mediated by T cells lead to inflammatory attack with demyelination of white matter of spinal cord

A
pain, sensation problems, optic neuritis, weakness (irregular), how shower worsens symptoms

How would you test for MS?
A
CT/MRI, LP (oligocordial bands), NCS

How would you treat MS?
A
steroids, DMARDs (IFN-B prevents immune activation, natalizumab modifies lymphocyte trafficking)
stem cell transplant

A
steroids in relapse DMARDs - interferon monoclonal antibodies - alemtuzumab, natalizumab tecfidera - dimethyl fumerate stem cell transplant
