neural crest Flashcards
origin of the neural crest
between the neural tube and epithelial layers. they originate in the dorsal tube of the developing embryo and migrate to their destinations
what cells/tissues are derived from neural crest
the entire PNS, neurons, sensory ganglia, sympathetic and parasym. neuroglia and schwann cells. adrenal medulla, calcitonin secreters, pigment cells, facial cartilage and bone. connective tissue, etc.
what causes the differentiation of neural crest
different morphogens and surrounding tissue experience.
placode
an area of epidermal thickening that gives rise to neurons and structures of the sensory nervous system.
where do they come from?
they delaminate from the tube by undergoing EMT and secreting MMP. t
how is their migration path established?
they are repelled by ephrins
