Networking Flashcards
1
Q
Protocol
A
Is a set of rules for a specific type of communication between two end points.
2
Q
Port
A
They are an identifier, a logical endpoint of a connection.
3
Q
what is the Port Range?
A
0 - 65,535
4
Q
which are the standardized port ranges?
A
(These Ports were set up by IANA)
- Well-Known ports - 0 - 1,023
(Most used ports in the network today, easy to identify) - Registered Port ranges - 1024 - 49,151
(Organizations use this range, this range is used by a dew) - Dynamic Ports - 49,512 - 65,535
(Temporary ports, These will be used for communications, but then once that communication is done, the computer will generate other dynamic port for outbound communication as well)
5
Q
IANA
A
(Internet Assignment Numbers Authority
- They’re the ones that actually set the ports up in the earlier days of networking, and is the body that largely has dictated what the port ranges are.
6
Q
Connection - Oriented Service better known as TCP
A
(Transmission Control Protocol)
It will let
