Nervous System Flashcards

Q
Describe the anatomy of the somatic nervous system.
A
The somatic nervous system has afferent (sensory) neurons in the dorsal part of the spinal cord and efferent (motor) neurons in the ventral part of the spinal cord. The cell bodies of the sensory (afferent) neurons are in the dorsal root ganglia (outside of the spinal cord). The cell bodies of the motor (efferent) neurons are in the ventral horn of the spinal cord. The cell bodies of the interneurons are in the spinal cord.
