Our eyes scanned the overflowing space of men to see the blind old man, a forged smile placed itself on his decomposing face, a smile with a curve to set everything straight, but not enough for the soldiers.

A

juxtaposition when saying he had a smile with a curve to straight everything straight which is impossible but the impossible was still not enough for the soldiers to respect the man which opens up a new layer of the theme of the disrespect placed on the Vietnamese

Q

The reconstruction of our land and homocide created from the men left them shielded in radiance of colours.

A

visual imagery is evident due to the descriptive language, and context given to help visualise the radiance of colours that shielded the men, for example blood, dirt etc

irony and heavy connotation when saying a radiance of colour shielded the men who had just returned from a battle as a radiance is normally related to a radiance of sunlight for example, and sunlight represents happiness or fun where as i explained the colours where provided on the men due to the events of homcoide, bombings, laying in dirt and mud etc.

juxtaspostition for relating such opposite wording to fit in a sentence creating a new concept and visual imagery

Q

they were sick sociopaths, sick sociopaths who found entertainment in these weapons, sick sociopaths who were considered our heros.

A

Irony when the kids consider the weapons an entertainment for the soldiers when on the reality it is a terrible life experience.

change of tone with repetition of sick sociopaths and the descriptive word of sick helped present the new tonal range.

controversial when calling the men who fought for their country sociopaths.

implied meaning of if they were really true great heros or if they commited disrespectful acts.
