- enhance norepinephrine & epinephrine or adrenergic activity by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors
- results in vasoconstriction → reduced inflammation & mucus formation

indications:

- RTIs → ex. rhinitis
2. should NOT be used > 3 days

side effects:

- hypertension
- sleeplessness
- anxiety, dizziness, excitability, nervousness
