What does Qur’an mean?
The Qur’an or Koran (meaning that which is read or recited)
The Qur’an is a sacred book received from who and when was it received?
The sacred book which Muhammad received as revelation from Allah via the angel Gabriel (Jibril) over a period of 23 years beginning in 610 C.E.
What does the Qur’an do?
It tells Muslims how to live their lives, how Allah expected them to live day by day as they submit to His will.

There are 6666 ayahs (verses)
What is the Qur’an mostly written in and what are the chapters in it called?
The book is written in Arabic and consists of many chapters which are called surahs.
How many surahs are their?
There are 114 surahs altogether and all are written in verses, except for the first surah.
The Muslims treat the Qur’an with the greatest respect how do they do it?
- They wash their hands before touching or reading from it
- Place it above all other books on a bookshelf
- It is placed on a special wooden stand for reading
- It is never placed on the ground and when it is too old to be read it is burnt or buried

Islamic law called Shar’iah is the entire body of laws that guides the believer in their life.
Where are the Shar’iah Laws deprived from?
It is derived from the religious precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and the hadith.
What does Hadith mean?
Hadith (meaning sayings)
What does the Hadith contain?
It contains the words of advice and guidance spoken by Muhammad.

The Hadith was collected and written down by Muhammad disciples.
