MSI /fMRI/ sEEG Flashcards

1
Q

This FMRI is done during verb generation task vs resting. What does it show?

A

Broca’s area in left frontal lobe (note that positive right hemisphere findings are not atypical)

Q

What do each of the following correlate in terms of seizure localization
- Anterior temporal horizontal anterior-posterior dipole
- anterior temporal vertical dipole (2)
- posterior vertical dipoles

A

Anterior temporal horizontal anterior-posterior dipole
- mesial temporal seizure onset (ipsilateral)
Anterior temporal vertical dipole
- anterior temporal onset
- possible medial temporal onset
Posterior vertical dipoles
- lateral or nonlocalized seizure onset.

Q

In patients with MTLE, what do the following MSI findings indicate?
- ATV dipole
- ATH dipole (2)

A

ATV dipole: epileptic activity in medial basal temporal region (ipsilateral)
ATH dipole:
- temporal pole and adjacent part of lateral temporal cortex
- 50% with TH dipoles exhibit bitemporal spikes and/or seizure onsets
