After realizing the South could not be won, British General Cornwallis, retreated to this Virginian town, where his forces were surrounded on three sides by water. This battle was the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. It was won by Patriot forces.

Principle of government that says every state made clear that the people of the state had rights that the government must respect at all times.
