System Software
A computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs.
Application Software
A software designed to handle specific tasks for users.
Why is a computer a powerful multi-purpose tool?
Because its able to run many different types of software is what makes the computer such a useful and powerful multi-purpose tool.
What is an example of Integrated Software?
When a company creates many different types of software (e.g., a word processor, a spreadsheet and a presentation) it makes sense that the programs should be designed to have a similar interface.
What is the most well-known productivity software?
Microsoft Office
What is one thing that most users don’t realise when they pay to use software?
You are not actually buying the software, you’re buying a license to use the software under certain conditions.
What are EULAs or End User Licence Agreements?
They describe what you may and may not do with the software.
What is Proprietary Software?
(Purchased from owner)
- It is licensed, so users may only use the software under certain conditions.
- They may not change or distribute it.
Software Piracy?
- Illegal installations
- Illegal copying & distribution of property software.
Single User Licence?
You may only install one copy of the software.
Site Licencing
Allows a company or organisation an unrestricted number of software installations within the company or organisation.
