What is the acrosome reaction?
A
When sperm hit the corona radiata, enzymes are released (from sperm) that help sperm break through the corona radiata and zona pellucida

What is the zona reaction?
A
When a sperm fuses with the egg’s plasma membrane (inside the zona), the zona pellucida becomes tough and prevents additional sperm from penetrating/binding.
