Kino-Eye
former soviet filmmaker Dziga Vertov adopted the notion and set of techniques in his documentary Man with a Movie Camera (1929). Veretov means of capturing what he believed as “inaccessible to the human eye”. Using newsreel footage and montage techniques.

Alexander Astruc developed Camera Pen theory(1948). Camera functions similarly to writer’s pen in literature. Role of camera as a tool for storytelling and expression. Writers- pen evoke emotions on paper. Filmmaker- camera compose shots and visual images

Jacques Lacan. Pscyhoanalytic concept of mirror stage into film studies (1950s-1960s). Influenced by the work of Sigmund Freud focuses on the relationship between individual’s sense of self and their perception of reality.
Connotation
the technical elements in the foundational level of film language include the camerawork, sound and editing elements.
