what is electroconvulsive therapy?

A
  • causes a seizure that lasts up to 15-60 seconds
  • treatment lasts for 2-3 weeks, 6-12 times
  • given under anaesthetic, using succinycholine to paralyse
    muscles to prevent broken bones
