Meningioma Flashcards
Is histopathology good for grading meningioma?
NEEJ
Ja, enligt WHO ska de graderas histopatologiskt.
What malignancy grades exist for meningioma?
1-3.
How many subtypes are there for meningiomas?
15
Is the malignancy grading of meningiomas dependent on subtype?
No, its been changed to within-tumour grading regardless of subtype.
Which two subtypes of meningiomas have a higher risk to recur?
choroid and clear cell meningiomas. They are still regarded as grade 2.
Are brain invasive meningiomas grade 2 ?
No. Not any more.
1. Assessment of brain invasion is subjective.
2. Those w benign histology and total resection are ? grade2.
Which 2 subtypes may have a more aggressive behaviour?
Rhabdoid and Papillary meningioma. BUT they are now regarded as meningiomas in general. (WHO CNS5)
There is an important molecular marker that can be used to dischotomize meningiomas in two groups. Which?
NF2-mutated and non-NF2 mutated.
What does NF2 stand for?
Neurofibromatosis type 2
Is NF2 mutated or non mutated group more often of higher grade?
NF2-mutated are more often of higher grade
Is there a more common localisation for NF2-mutated meningiomas?
Yes. convexity.
Is there a more common localization of non-NF2 mutated meningiomas?
Yes. Skull base!
What phenotypes does NF2-mutated meningiomas often have?
Fibroblastic and transitional.
In borderline grade 2/3 meningiomas, there are 2 genetic analyses that can be done to decide. Which are they?
TERTp mutation and homozygous CDKN2A/B loss. If present= type3.
