Mendelian Inheritance Flashcards
Autosomal inheritance examples
Dominant- each generation is affected, both sexes affected equally, equally transmitted in each sex, transmitted through affected individual, 50% chance of inheriting
Recessive- affected individuals in a single generation, generations “skipped”, both sexes affected equally, parent may be related
Sex linked inheritance examples
X-linked recessive - males affected more than females, transmitted through unaffected females. males cannot transmit disorder to sons, daughters of affected male will be carriers
X-linked Dominant- both sexes afeected, females usually less severely affected than males, affected males cannot transmit disorder to son, daughters of affected males will be affected
Y-linked - affects males only
