A

Stands for “ATP-Binding Cassette”
A family of proteins that bind ATP.
Most proteins work as pumps .
CFTR is an ABC protien.

A

Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator.
Act as a chloride channel.
Channel opening requires both ATP binding and phosphorylation.
Important for fluids secretion at multiple epithelia .
