Explain how why and where lactate is produced
A
Where: tissues doing anaerobic glycolysis ( skeletal muscle red/white cells, kidney medulla
How: lactate dehydrogenase convert pyruvate to lactate
Why: enables NADH TO BE OXIDISED TO NAD+ glycolysis continues without involvement of mitochondrion or oxygen
