What were Schiltrom tactics?
Introduced at the Battle of Falkirk. Tried to counter the English cavalry, but it was still susceptible to longbow fire.
What was a pitched battle?
When both armies faced up against each other on the battlefield.
They were risky as it was hard for an army to have a decisive advantage, and easy for something to go wrong during the battle.
What was siege warfare?
The defence of a castle/attempt to take a castle by outlasting your opponent.
Took longer but less risky. Required specialist soldiers.
They could last up to 40 days.
What was guerilla warfare?
Hit and run attacks on unprepared forces. The Scottish used it to gain advantage of the mountainous terrain in Northern Scotland.
