Anglo Saxon
relating to or denoting the Germanic inhabitants of England from their arrival in the 5th century up to the Norman Conquest.
Barbarian
a term to describe someone living outside their borders, an uncivilised person.
Empire
a group of countries often having different languages, ruled by a central power or leader.
Feudalism
a set of legal customs that served to organise the society.
Fief
a plot of land granted to a vassal by a lord in return for the vassals loyal support.
Hierarchy
a way of organising people so that the most important people are at the top with the others ranked underneath in decreasing order of importance.
Jester
a medieval comedian who would joke around at occasions. He typically wore a multi prolonged floppy hat will bells on it.
Knight
a medieval warrior of Europe who typically pledged his services to a lord.
Lord
a wealthy monarch or noble under feudalism.

Moat
a wide band of water surrounding a built structure, it provided some protection in case of attack.
Monarchy
a type of government ruled by a king or queen
Monastery
a place where monks live, worship and work.
Monk
a man dedicated to the religious life.
Normans
a group of people descended from Vikings who settled in a region of northern France. Became known as Normandy.
