medications Flashcards
What medication is used in “single antiplatelet therapy?
Aspirin
What medications are used in “dual antiplatelet therapy?
Aspirin and clopidogrel
What is the MOA of dopamine?
It stimulates alpha and beta1 adrenergic and dopaminergic receptors producing inotropic, chronotropic, renal/ splanchnic vasodilaory (at low doses), and pressor (at high doses) effects.
What is the generic name for Levophed?
noreepinephrine
What is the MOA of norepinephrine?
It acts on both A1 and A2 adrenergic receptors to cause blood vessel contraction. This thus causes a resultant increase in peripheral vascular resistance. It is a sympathomimetic drug used to treat patients in vasodilatory shock states such s septic or neurogenic shock, while showing fewer adverse side effects compared to dopamine.
What is another name for norepinephrine?
What is another name for noradrenaline?
Which PPI cannot be used with clopidogrel and why?
Omeprazole, because studies have found a significant decrease in the platelet antiaggregation effect of clopidogrel when used concurrently with omeprazole. These effects were not sen with pantoprazole.
