Chocking actions
– Can breathe – don’t do anything allow to cough
– Can’t breathe – provide Heimlich maneuver/CPR if unresponsive

- CPR if unresponsive
Uncomfortable feeling in the center of chest that lasts for more than a few minutes or comes and goes

- have victim sit

- AED and CPR if unresponsive
Reduced venous return from lower extremities. Person experiences dizziness

- lay on back
- raise legs 12 in
- slowly sit up when not dizzy
- ankle pumps/knees to chest
Severe hypertension, discomfort, goosebumps, convulsions and becomes unresponsive
Autonomic hyperreflexia s/s

– No supine
– Remove stimulus
– Monitor vital signs
– Change in behavior – Sleepiness - hunger, thirst, weakness – Sweating, pale skin - Seizure
Diabetes and low blood sugar S/S
Diabetes/low blood sugar action
Swallow – Eat or drink something sugary – Sit quietly or lie down No swallow -911 - no food or drink
– Facial droop
– Weakness on one side
– Trouble speaking
– Numbness
Stroke S/S

- 911
- CPR as needed
– Loss of muscle control
– Jerking movements in arms and legs
Seizure S/S
Seizure action
– Place towel under head
– Move furniture
– 911
