living will
legal document stating:
- procedures a patient wants + doesn’t want
- what conditions they would like to do organ/tissue donation, dialysis, blood transfusions, DNR orders
durable power of attorney for health care
legal document that names healthcare agent/proxy to make medical decisions for pts that can’t do so (decide as the patient)
+ is more specific about the treatment than a living will
do-not-resuscitate order (DNR)
tells medical staff not to return patient’s heart to normal if it stops/beats unevenly
MOLST
medical document specifying which treatments are allowed during end-of-life care (signed off by provider)
+ is a bright pink form
organ and tissue donation
allows organs/body parts from a healthy person to be transferred to someone who needs them
legal guardianship
court-ordered arrangement giving someone the power to make medical decisions for someone incapable
(when no other family/friends are available)
