Measurements In Science Flashcards
What is Volume?
Volume is the space that is occupied by an object.
How do you calculate Volume?
You calculate volume by multiplying an objects length breadth and height ( L x B x H ).
How Would you calculate volume of a liquid in a container
You would read off of the meniscus of the liquid and not the very top of where it goes to.
What Is Mass?
Mass is a measurement of the amount of mass ( or stuff ) in an object.
How is mass measured? What is the Symbol for mass and what are the units for mass?
In Physics we use a digital top-pan balance to find the mass of an object. The symbol for Mass is an m and the units for mass is kilograms ( kg ) or grams ( g ).
What is Temperature?
Temperature is how hot or how cold and object is.
What Are the units and symbol for Temperature?
The symbol for temperature is a capital letter T and the Unit is degrees Celcius C°.
What is The boiling point for water?
The Boiling point for water is 100° Celcius
What is the freezing point of water?
The freezing point of water is 0° Celcius
What is a normal humans average body temperature?
A Normal humans body temperature is 37° Celcius
What is density?
The Density of a Substance is its mass per unit of volume.
How would you calculate density?
You would calculate density by dividing the mass of an object by its volume.
What is the unit for density?
The unit for density is g/cm3
What does the Density of an object have to be to be able to float on water?
It has to be under 1 g/cm3 or else it will sink
